III International Congress of Education in the framework of the commemoration of 100 years of the University Reform of Cordoba

The Universidad Nacional de Educación UNAE (National University of Education), in Ecuador, announces the III Congreso Internacional de Educación y Universidad para la transformación social: balances y desafíos a 100 años de la Reforma de Córdoba(III International Congress on Education and University for social transformation: balances and challenges 100 years after the Cordoba Reform), within the framework of the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the University Reform of Córdoba. The objective of the event, which will be held during May 21st, 22nd and 23rd, 2018, is to reflect on the current situation of higher education and universities in Latin America and the Caribbean, in light of one of the most important events of struggle for the right to higher education in history.

The UNAE invites researchers, teachers, students and student movements to share their initiatives under the framework of the right to education, university autonomy, intercultural education and the new challenges faced by education in our countries.

The Congress’ goals are the following:

• To analyze the dynamics that the Latin American university has had in view of its commitment to social transformation, within the framework of the 100 years of the University Reform of Córdoba,

• To encourage meetings between researchers, academics, directors, and student movements that strengthen inter-institutional capacities in order to rethink Latin American university’s commitment to the transformation of education and society.

• To promote the socialization of knowledge produced in the South, about the social mission of the Latin American university.

• To help proposals for alternatives to neoliberal reforms in higher education gain more visibility

• To contribute to the public debate on autonomy, organization, government and social responsibility of the Latin American university, its challenges and projections.
